The WellSpan Spotlight

Using your new Capital Blue Cross plan

We welcome the new year with a new insurance provider, Capital Blue Cross. We haven’t changed insurance carriers in quite a while, so please make note of these important steps to help reflect your new coverage in the system.

New ID cards

You should have received your new ID cards in December. You can also access your ID card by creating an account on Capital Blue Cross’ portal at www.MyHealthToolKitCapital.com or call 877-317-0186 for ID card assistance. If Capital Blue Cross is unable to assist you, please contact the HR Service Center for assistance.

Bring new card to appointments

Please remember to bring your new ID card to your WellSpan and non-WellSpan appointments. We want to reassure you that your benefits coverage remains in place. Bringing your ID cards is crucial for ensuring that your coverage is recognized and processed correctly.

First visit to any provider or pharmacy (WellSpan or other) in 2025

Please present your new insurance card at the front desk to update your coverage records. You will also need to present your card at your designated pharmacy.

Recommended action before your first 2025 scheduled visit to a WellSpan location

Alternatively, you can upload your new ID card directly to the mobile WellSpan Health APP prior to your scheduled visit. Here’s how:

  • Log in to MyWellSpan.
  • Click on the Menu button in the center of the screen.
  • Scroll down to “Insurance Summary” and select “Add a coverage”.
  • Select “Capital Blue Cross-WellSpan Employee”.
  • Follow the prompts to take a picture of your new card and complete the process.
